Delegate
In rating your Team Leader in the area of Delegation:

...consider how well the individual delegates tasks to members of the team…

  • Is it done as a positive manner, or does it seem like punishment?
  • Do the individuals to whom the tasks are delegated have the skills and abilities to perform the tasks?
  • Is the delegation seen as being at least partially for the individual development of the individual to whom the task is assigned?
  • Does the person to whom the task is delegated have latitude or flexibility in how the task is accomplished?
  • Is appropriate feedback given in both directions regarding the accomplishment of the delegated task?
  • Are the efforts of the person to whom the task was delegated acknowledged in appropriate fashion?
  • Does the delegation enhance the overall performance of the team as a whole?
  • Does the leader check-in periodically to provide assistance and ensure success?
